The ski resort of Lofer is well located for flights into Salzburg, is regarded as a family ski holiday resort and shares a combined family lift pass with the local ski resort of Rauris.
Lofer is located close to the border with Tirol in Salzburgerland province, in a region known for its reliable snow accumulation. However, the ski resort is at the relatively low altitude of 640m and as is such reliant on artificial snow in some years. The attractive holiday resort is well suited to families and is set amongst beautiful secenery. The ski area boasts a reasonable 46km of piste and whilst the top elevation is a rather lowly 1785m, the low resort height ensures that the ski area has a decent vertical drop. There is a 7km piste that runs down to the ski resort and is supplemented with artificial snow to ensure a ski-in resort. The ski area at Lofer is linked on certain ski passes with neighbouring ski resorts to further the ski terrain on offer. Cross country ski trails around the ski holiday village well reflect the pace of life in the resort.
