Alpbach is a pretty ski resort with a medium sized , mid-altitude ski area.
The award winning village combined with the attractive local surroundings make Alpbach a popular resort. Alpbach offers good, if restrained night life and skiing to suit intermediate skiers. Alpbach is located close to Innsbruck and the Inn valley and is part of the Kitzbuheler Alpen ski area, which includes amongst others, the ski resorts of Kitzbuhel, the Ski Welt (including Soll, Ellmau and Westendorf) and Niederau. Skiing in Alpbach is predominantly intermediate but the ski area is good for beginners and families, with the small resort village and gentle terrain. Skiers wanting more of a challenge need to head to the ski resorts on the Kitzbuheler Alpen ski pass. Après ski in Alpbach is fairly restrained but as with anywhere in Austria, there are umbrella bars and crazy music to delay the return to your accommodation.
