The ski holiday resort of Kappl is somewhat smaller and more restrained than the dominant neighbour, Ischgl. Located closer to the main transport hubs, Kappl provides a useful base from which to access the main ski resources of the Paznaun valley.
Kappl has its own compact ski area above the ski holiday resort, and whilst the Ischgl just down the road is the main attraction of the Paznaun Valley, Kappl offers a great alternative without the mayhem, lack of available beds and price hikes.
The ski area at Kappl offers good intermediate and beginner skiing, whilst ski buses run to the other ski holiday resorts in the Paznaun Valley. The most notable is Ischgl which has an extensive ski terrain and is lift linked to the Swiss ski holiday destination of Samnaun. Most visitors to Kappl will spend at least one day skiing in either Galtur or Ischgl.
