At the beginning or the end of the season the Kaunertal Glacier offers snow reliability that cannot be found at non-glacier ski resorts. The skiing tends to consist of wide, gentle ski pistes that follow the natural decent of the glacier and are ideal for beginners and intermediates. The Kaunertal Glacier is also popular with local snowboarders and has a half pipe and terrain park.
The Kaunertal Glacier is accessed via a long road that winds through beautiful and very sparsely populated valleys. One of the best aspects of the skiing at the Kaunertal Glacier is the run back down to the base station car park. It is located beneath the Kaunertal Glacier and winds through some interesting terrain. Unlike many glacier resorts parking, the lift system and the ski piste are all clustered conveniently.
