Set high up in the Oetztal Valley and only 14km from the ski resorts of Obergurgl and Hochgurgl, the ski holiday resort of Solden offers guaranteed snow, year round skiing, and great nightlife for the large numbers of skiers that descend on the resort each ski season. The holiday resort has the distinct advantage that it has immediate access to lower slopes that run directly into it, but also that lifts from the resort continue up the mountain to reach a glacier and substantial ski terrain. A village called Hoch Solden is located high above Solden and offers a more relaxed and refined alternative to the action below. With such a large ski area, all levels of skier are catered for. The views from the top of the ski area are spectacular, looking across into the Pitztal Valley and onto the Wildspitze, the highest peak in Tirol. There are dramatic look-out platforms at the top to take advantage of the nature on offer. Ski touring and off-piste skiing are available in the area for the more advanced skiers. Once the skis are off, the ski boots do not necessarily follow; Solden offers endless après ski venues to ski-boot dance until dawn. Obergurgl and Hochgurgl are only 14km further up the valley for a change of pace and scenery.
