BEGINNER SKI AREAS IN AUSTRIA
Beginner ski areas are ones with a good range of gentle skiing and very little intimidating terrain that would be required to be navigated. There are several good beginner ski resorts that we have experienced but in truth, most resorts apart from a couple have ample beginner terrain in Austria. The key for beginner ski resorts is that they also offer good early intermediate skiing to progress into. Ski schools in Austria generally have extensive beginners programs.

STUBAI GLACIER
The Stubai Glacier is an excellent place for beginner skiers - the lift station at the Gamsgarten offers excellent terrain and facilities, with the skiing beyond this area ideal to progress into.
MUTTERS
Mutters is part of the Innsbruck ski region and is popular with families and beginners. The ski area has modern lifts and facilities and has gentle ski pistes back down to the resort of Mutters.
KAPRUN
Kaprun, part of the Zell am See - Kaprun ski region has the Maiskogel ski area located on the edge of the resort that is popular with families. The skiing is tree lined and gentle.
NIEDERAU / OBERAU
The twin resorts of Niederau-Oberau offer some of the best beginner skiing in Austria and the pretty villages and valley are a great introduction to the pleasures of winter sports in Austria.
ELLMAU
Ellmau is part of the extensive Ski Welt ski region and offers some of the best beginner skiing in the region. There are beginner slopes in Ellmau whilst the skiing above the resort is gentle.
IGLS
Igls is located just south of Innsbruck and is has seen recent investments in the base-station ski area that now includes an extensive beginners ski area and facilities for skiers and snowboarders.
SEEFELD
Seefeld offers great resort facilities and a large pedestrianised ski resort centre. Seefeld skiing is located around the resort and is ideal for families and beginner skiers.
