A very white Christmas in Austria - more snow in the coming days
December has been an absolute bumper month for snow in Austria. Many, many great days of powder skiing already and still not yet Christmas. For those here or venturing over to Austria for the New Year period conditions could really not be any better. The temperatures were more bearable today and they are set to continue to hover just below freezing in the resorts - the last week of bitterly cold weather has broken. Snow is forecast for the coming several days - there will be a good number of people on the slopes over the coming 2 weeks but they will be having superb conditions including plenty of powder skiing.
are you still on holiday? no updates on the blog for overa week?? How was xmas? your first with Josh must have been a cracker!
We closed the office for 2 days over Christmas but back at it now. You are right though, not too many blog updates right now. That will change tonight with a snow report from Kuhtai hopefully, I will go night skiing there hopefully. Busy time over here on and off the slopes. To be honest this is the time that I do my least skiing each winter. The slopes and the roads are packed so I tend to take I t a bit easy over this period and then get ready for the January skiing.
Glad to hear i’m not the only one missing out on the skiing, Terri & Cathy are talking about a summer holiday & I’m talking about 3 skiing holidays! looks like we will be spending some time apart.
I have a solution John - the Hintertux Glacier. It offers skiing year round and for those seeking a sun tan then there can be few better places. The mountain restaurant on the Hintertux Glacier offers a plethora of cold beverages throughout the summer and whilst there are sun loungers you are unlikely to experience a dawn battle to secure one. Down in the Zillertal Valley there are endless 4 and 5 star hotel options to enjoy. Maybe it could even be a surprise summer holiday, you know where you do all the work and research and then get all the plaudits at the airport boarding gate. This year is my turn to arrange our wedding anniversary celebration and I can assure you it will be in Austria and take place at over 3000m - husband of the year award 2010 is assured.
i like your thinking, now to work on the sales pitch. Husband of the year! I take it there is only one husband in this competition as you seem to have awarded yourself a healthy pat on the back already. Are you in the office tomorrow morning, I’d like to ring & wish you all a happy new year.
I think I would be an outside bet for husband of the year had I not been the sole entrant and the presiding judge. That said all things have a starting point and I for one will framing my award next to my TSLV Austrian ski instructors license. Didn’t manage to get over to Kuhtai for the night skiing tonight but will have a quick ski tomorrow afternoon before the fireworks light up the Innsbruck valley. One of us will be around to take a call that is for sure.
