Bar extensions and new snow - a great end to 2009
The year ending ski today brought heavy snowfall and the revelation that the Birgitzköpflhaus, the watering hole at the top of my favourite ski piste back to my house has had an extension. The awning / après ski conservatory / extension is a great addition to the existing Birgitzköpflhaus and something that took me by complete surprise. Another reason top stop off there before the descent out of Axamer Lizum into the Gotzens ski area. After the Christmas ski holidays the slopes today were pretty icy under the new snow so the projected snow over the coming days will be welcomed. Noticeably colder and snowier conditions are forecast for the Austrian Tirol right through to the middle of next week. The perfect way to end a year and start another. Josh, my first son arrived in 2009 and already he is showing an affinity with snow sports that makes his father proud beyond words:

2010 will be the year that Josh skis, if he can walk before his first birthday in May then he will be an 11 month old skier, if not then the Austrian glaciers beckon the first day this young skier can support his growing weight. 2010 should also be a great year for Piste View, our new project that is underway and is set to map the slopes of the Alps through video. Whatever you do in 2010, make sure some of it has snow underfoot. Servus aus Tirol!
