Stubai powder at the Stubai Zoo and everyone avoiding it

After several days of snow the Stubai Glacier offered excellent power skiing / snowboarding today, although I think yesterday might have been one of the days of the season so far. Ironic then that most of those on the Stubai Glacier today were unconcerned with the banks of powder and instead chose to throw themselves off kickers and rails in the Stubai Zoo Park. Today was the season opening of the Stubai Zoo Park and conditions were superb. The wind that picked up later in the day made for some sketchy landings but also signalled the arrival of the next bout of snow in this part of the Alps. You can see a snow report below - the superlatives to describe the start to the glacier skiing season over here are getting a little worn but I have yet to see a start to an autumn ski season like this one - it is just epic! Great fun at the Stubai Glacier today, I am a little too old for the party in Neustift tonight and my 2 tips as opposed to 4 ruled me out of much of the on-snow action in the Park but the Zoo opening is a popular, well attended event with some pretty special skiers and snowboarders there.
