Unfortunately the snow is set to arrive on Thursday at around 13:30. Hopefully the race will run but looking at the forecasts there are going to be some very fatigued race organisers between now and then, the Kitzbuhel Hahnenkamm Streif course doesn’t like snow - it is very, very steep ice rink and the forecast snow perversely makes it extremely dangerous. Fingers crossed though!

Hi Sinead, thanks for asking - I have not been but I would guess from tomorrow there will be sunny conditions and mountains of snow. I hope you can get over there soon.

Hi Theresa, sorry to hear that you are stranded - we have had clients unable to get to Lech am Arlberg today due to the snow which is a real shame. I have never seen so much snow fall as this and in Innsbruck we have got off pretty lightly, I think the northern and western areas of Tirol and Vorarlberg have been absolutely plastered in snow. Where are you at the moment?

Hi Olivia - Jan is usually the best month to go as the shorter lift queues and the fact that the snow has {usually} kicked in. That said Saalbach has the highest snow cannon coverage in the alps (about 90% - 95% of slopes) so for the past 7 years Jan has been fine. They have invested in massive lakes to store water for snow making in the last few years. You can always get the bus to Lengau at the top of the valley which is pretty snow sure and has some great huts.
We love the folks at Snow Academy - they recently won a European award for best ski school. It was the first ski school our oldest son went to. Hope you make it over and have a great time. There is snow due on Saturday - we are all very excited.

Hi Olivia - thanks for your feedback on Saalbach-Hinterglemm, it is always great to get first hand experience on things. And sometimes we in the industry can get too close to the action and get a bit blasé about stuff - there are some really great things taking place in many resorts and it is great to hear from you about them. In terms of January skiing then all I can say is that I was in Saalbach-Hinterglemm last December and January and scored huge powder days on the 4 days I was there - you can’t predict so I guess recent experience is as good an indicator as anything else? Have a great time of you do get to Saalbach-Hinterglemm and please let us know how you get on.
