Der Weiße Rausch - the White Rush, St Anton 2010 video
April 28th, 2010 by matt
So as promised the video from the mass start and soon after mass chaos race, Der Weiße Rausch - the White Rush. This video took some time to cut - late season deadlines and plenty of film to go through but here you go:
Fanatastic , looks like a great day out for all & a little punishing to compete, that snow looks a little slushie & a little hard going when on foot. You’d certainly have earned a beer at the end. Top video Mr Brown
great video! thank god we norwegians invented skiing :)how much longer will your ski season last? what places in tyrol are still open?
Hey John, yes the race was open to all although the limited places are taken up some months in advance. The guy who took our helmet camera was doing his 8th I think. At the front of the field you have some pretty special and pretty determined skiers - the winner of this race really is worthy of serious acclaim. It is the length, the spring snow and the climb that really make this a stand out race and make it so tough. St Anton is famed for its tough and steep skiing but this route is not too steep at all. But at 12km and with that tough climb and spring snow it is gruelling to say the least.
Hey Bard, yes and whilst you might not have invented après ski you guys are pretty good at that too. The season is now over in the Arlberg resorts but Ischgl is throwing its last weekend party bash this weekend with an open air concert at Idalp. The glacier skiing will run for at least another 6 weeks and although the Hintertux Glacier runs throughout the summer and many others will offer skiing if the conditions are good enough.
