It’s official – the Salzburger Sportwelt is the best value around
Having sat in an Austrian restaurant and seen German guests tipping the waiting staff all of 40 cents on a bill of €49,60 (and trust me this was not a one off) it comes with unchallenged German authority that the Salzburger Sportwelt has been rated as the best value ski holiday region in the Alps. And this by no lesser an authority than the German automobile club, the ADAC. They tested the criteria of ski pass prices, km’s of the slopes, amount/capacity/quality of lifts, quality of the slopes and snow guarantee.

For the record Saalbach and Hinterglemm are also excellent value as well on the slopes and even have their beer prices advertised on signs in the run-up to alms – like petrol station signs but chalk board and on snow rather than tarmac.
that should trigger some Tirol resorts to think about their prices!?!?!
I am not sure how widespread it is across the ski region but when I was in Saalbach-Hinterglemm last year there were signs on the pistes in the run up to mountain huts displaying the price of 500ml beers. That was a novel and well appreciated feature, maybe that info can be incorporated into the chipped lift passes?
