Saalbach may not traditionally have been seen as one of the obvious family resorts but for us it has really provided the balance for happy kids and adults. It has a fantastic mix of terrain and around ten ski and snowboard schools. Many people seem surprised when I tell them that my oldest son started [...]

Josh my 13 month old son wore ski goggles on day 1 and with them came a promise that he would ski the day after his first steps, not a day later. Well the first step is still to materialise and Josh is set to miss another powder day on the local glaciers. The weather [...]

Just back from the Stubai Glacier where the conditions on-piste were superb, great snow and sunshine. Off-piste was both hazardous due to the high avalanche danger, whilst most of the off-piste was tracked out in any case. There were a good number of people there to enjoy the great skiing. Blue skies and apart from the top sections of the ski area at over 2700m where the wind was strong and bitingly [...]

There was powder skiing in Kuhtai, south of Innsbruck and the frigid temperatures at 2000m+ were sufficient to keep the snow in great condition. Plenty of families were on the slopes today [...]

I had a family ski day in Igls today with our eight month old Josh and friends and their child who was born at the same time. Igls really drew in the crowds today, the car park was packed as were the lower slopes. The newly redeveloped base-station has certainly focused local’s minds, there were [...]

The Austrian Alps are currently getting hit with the first real snow of the winter and around Innsbruck today there was endless and heavy snowfall. Down in Innsbruck at 575m there was cold air and very heavy rain. The freezing level was around 1200m and for the ski areas of the tirol and the glaciers [...]
