Today the Zillertal Arena hosted the Stroh Juchee ‘sled race’ - Austria once again proving that it can do the bizarre as well as anyone with the USS Enterprise and a group of cross-dressed, beauty pageant farmers gracing the event. The day was very much a family affair with kids on sledges watching adults on sledges come down a short course. The highlight was the re-emergence of Titanic from the depths of the Atlantic, only to suffer a similar iceberg collision on the slopes of Zell am Ziller. With 7000 visitors the day was a real spectacle with the music and festivities lasting all afternoon.

Just an idea ” Raise the Titanic beerfest”. Model of Titanic ( large ) partly submerged in large tank mostly submerged because of all the beer it contains. Beer on taps on side of tank, the more you drink the titanic is raised from the depths, you could obviously do this on a smaller scale, but the bigger the party i say!.

No Josh but he was officially on snow on Saturday on a very cool sledge in Igls. The greatest aspect was that he wore a wide smile - the need for a DNA test which surfaced after he rebuked my introduction to snow back in October is now officially cancelled. Tons of kids up at Zell am Ziller and some bigger ones who had spent their spare time creating the masterpieces on snow. They were certainly tucking into the refreshments, especially the crew of the Titanic who were clearly relieved to survive their 2nd iceberg collision in history.

Your idea is inspired and I am sure the local voluntary fire brigade would be well up for the technical challenge of building the tank. The Zillertal brewery is just down in the valley so may well interested in sponsoring the event. One thing might be to keep the kids away, saving the crew and passengers of the Titanic could be extremely messy.
