Hi Curt, good to hear you are visiting Innsbruck. In May you will have 2 options, ski touring and glacier skiing. Although today in Innsbruck was like mid-winter, we have had big snow, tomorrow is going to be a great powder day here. You can find your glacier skiing options here:

http://www.skiingaustria.co.uk/glacier-skiing-in-austria.html

The Stubai Glacier is the closest (and best) although both Solden and the Hintertux Glacier are easily reachable as well. In May you can expect anything from good to great snow and skiing. I ski from October to June each year over here and conditions at the start and end of the season can be superb. Any more info then feel free to ask, our company is based in Innsbruck and we have a great knowledge of this ski region.

Hello:

Can anyone give me advice on where to ski in the Innsbruck area in early May (May 9 - 10)? I realize many of the areas close, but there is glacier skiing. Is there bus service from downtown to these ski areas?

Thanks

Is apre the singular for post-ski warm-down drink, as opposed to apres which is generally excess on a grand scale in ski boots? Got a couple of rocks today in the Arlberg but at this time of the season - walking wounded whilst not quite welcome is certainly better than a season-ender pre-xmas. That has happened and really sucks.

Yes all in all it has been a really good winter so far and as happens each year the real snows arrive in March and April. Off to the Zillertal Arena tomorrow for some powder action - always a great time there!
