Winter returns to Austria in 2 days after autumn showed up in late October

Next week Austria is set to host winter again. After the superb opening shots of winter 09/10 early October, Autumn returned to offer clear and stable weather. That is all set to change again from the 2nd November right through next week. Of the non-glacier skiing areas in Austria Kitzbuhel has been the biggest name ski holiday resort to be open so far has been open but many others should be due to open after the snow and colder temperatures next week. The glaciers have been in superb shape and should offer further powder sessions in the breaks in the weather. Hopefully my local hill - Axamer Lizum will be open in the coming week or 2, the highest and for me best skiing in Innsbruck always opens in November but for freak years. Ah, Austrian winters – more snow, longer seasons, better value, prettier villages, better beer……I could go on.
