Zeas to gruezi - swapping the incomprehensible Tirolean for the unfathomable Swiss German
Off to Davos tomorrow to guide a corporate ski group and embark on some mystifying language training. One thing that always puzzles me about going to Switzerland is the language - sure as a nation they nearly all speak impeccable English. But some of that must come from the fact that Swiss German bares little resemblance to any other language, notably German. So in the interests of extending the adoption of an already tough language why not make your language unintelligible to all but the local villagers? Should be a fun few days though in Davos / Klosters.
Davos, great resort, very modern. Language is strange in Switzerland as half speak French & the the other half some sort of German, lack of national identity i guess? still they do have good skiing resorts , but the night life is nothing on Austria. I see Kitzbuhel has a dusting of snow last night, may it long continue until April at least.
Yes Davos was in great shape with cold sunny days and plenty of fresh snow. The apres ski was rather different to Austria and was certainly not encouraged by our hotel bar staff. The staff even claimed the first night at 0200 that they did not have a karaoke microphone. So what followed was ‘Donald, Where’s Yer Troosers?’ unplugged. Good times for most.
