A metre of new snow in the Otztal |

I was in Leutasch / Seefeld today visiting a friend when the radio reported that the Otztal had a metre of new snow over the last day or so. That is almost too much to ski but you would surely give it a mighty good go :)

The central and southern alps in Austria are taking the brunt of this latest winter system and the glaciers that generally run the southern border with Italy have been seeing some epic snow deposits. The Seefeld region that often gets superb snow levels is missing out on this latest weather system. There was about 15cm of wet snow in Seefeld itself – Seefeld is located at 1200m, the snow level over the last day in the region. The peaks around Seefeld in the northern Alps got a decent cover, just not as much as the central Alps and the Otztal in particular.
