EHRWALD SKI HOLIDAYS IN THE ZUGSPITZ ARENA
The mighty Zugspitz dominates the valley, the prevailing weather and also offers a ski area on the glacier that lies on the German side of the border but which is included in some regional ski passes in Ehrwald. This ski area can be reached from the edge of Ehrwald and via the dramatic top station at the Zugspitz and then a lift into the large rock bowl that hosts the skiing. The Zugspitz reaches almost 3000m and the skiing in this section of the ski region is very snow-sure. The skiing just above Ehrwald is lower and tree-lined and stretches along the foothills of the Zugspitz. The terrain is ideal for and is popular with families and beginners. Lermoos is located across the valley and offers a similar type of ski area to Ehrwald. The ski holiday resort of Ehrwald spreads out a good distance and has numerous hotel and accommodation options as well as a good range of resort facilities. Cross-country skiing links the main resorts in the Zugspitz Arena and pretty much dictates the pace of things in the Zugspitz Arena – leisurely.
