ELLMAU SKI HOLIDAYS – BEGINNER & INTERMEDIATE SKIING

The ski holiday resort of Ellmau is part of the extensive Ski Welt ski region, located at the eastern end of the ski region. Ellmau is linked to the Ski Welt by the Hartkaiserbahn mountain railway and has a childrens ski area in the resort centre. The skiing in Ellmau as in the rest of the Ski Welt is best suited to intermediates although Ellmau also has a good deal of beginner skiing. Advanced skiing is located at the other end of the Ski Welt, above the ski holiday resort of Soll.

ELLMAU SKI HOLIDAYS – PRETTY RESORT & HUGE SKI AREA

The Ski Welt is the largest lift linked ski area in Austria and from Ellmau it is possible to ski right over into Westendorf at the opposite end of the Ski Welt. The skiing above Ellmau is ideal for beginners and intermediate skiers and snowboarders but for those looking for advanced skiing then the real steep stuff is located at the far end of the Ski Welt from Ellmau, around the Hohe Salve. The skiing in Ellmau almost all takes place beneath the tree-line, a great feature for families and together with the gentle skiing in Ellmau, the resort is a good option for families. Locally the skiing links into Scheffau and Brixen with both offering similar terrain, although Scheffau offers more difficult skiing generally. Even for those fairly new to snow sports, trips into these ski areas are easily possible in a day. Ellmau is a well established, pretty ski holiday resort with the usual domed church on the valley floor. There is a circular road that loops around the Ski Welt, with the road diverted away from the main resort. Ellmau has a good range of shops and facilities.
