EXPERTS IN AUSTRIA - EXPERT & EXTREME SKIING IN AUSTRIA
Expert and extreme terrain in Austria, both on and off-piste is found in a number of the ski areas. Steep and technical ski routes, areas with extensive off-piste which get good snow fall and black ski pistes are what expert skiers and snowboarders seek in Austria. A number of ski areas throw in token black ski pistes to offer a range of skiing but in truth a few short steep ski pistes are never going to keep an expert skier happy. The following ski areas contain a range of expert and extreme terrain both on and off-piste.

St Anton has some of the best steep skiing in the Alps as well as an enviable snow record. Stuben is linked by piste for the best off-piste skiing and St Anton has some superb guides.
STUBEN
The off-piste capital of Austria and very possibly the Alps, Stuben am Arlberg is located in the snowiest region of the Alps and has endless ski routes from the Albona peak.
MAYRHOFEN
Mayrhofen has the steepest groomed piste in Austria but it is the off-piste that is really superb for advanced and expert skiers and snowboarders. Mayrhofen also has one of the best snow parks anywhere.
INNSBRUCK NORDPARK
Seriously steep skiing directly above Innsbruck. On a powder day Innsbruck-Nordpark detonations resonate around the city and locals flock to some great, very steep powder routes.
ISCHGL
Ischgl has a number of black ski pistes but it is the off-piste and the ski routes that are the real draw for good skiers and snowboarders. After a tough day in the mountains try some expert après ski!
KRIPPENSTEIN
Like all the best expert ski areas the Krippenstein Freeride Arena has few lifts and little fanfare. What is does have is some very serious (guided only) off-piste descents.
