FINKENBERG, AUSTRIA SKI HOLIDAYS

Finkenberg is a ski holiday resort located between the famous resorts of Mayrhofen and the Hintertux Glacier and shares a pass with these areas to create the impressive Zillertal 3000 ski region. Lanersbach and its ski area Eggalm is the other part of the Zillertal 3000 ski region. Finkenberg has direct access to the Penken ski area above Mayrhofen and unlike Mayrhofen, has a ski piste / route back to resort level from the ski area. Finkenberg spreads out along the valley road that winds up to the Hintertux Glacier.

FINKENBERG SKI HOLIDAYS IN THE ZILLERTAL 3000 SKI REGION

For intermediate skiers and snowboarders the Zillertal 3000 ski region is excellent. The biggest and best ski area of the region is located above Mayrhofen at the Penken. The area is also directly linked to and from Finkenberg. Within the Penken ski area there is a huge variety or terrain as well as what is regarded as the best freestyle park in the Alps. Finkenberg has the advantage over Mayrhofen in the fact that skiers and snowboarders can take a ski route back to the resort at Finkenberg. Across from the Penken ski area, Mayrhofen also has a beginners / family ski hill at Ahorn. Finkenberg has skiing beneath the Rastkogel peak and this links into the Eggalm – Lanersbach ski area. The ski pistes in this area are suited to beginners and intermediates. Then further south down the valley is the Hintertux Glacier which makes up the final piece of the Zillertal 3000 ski region. Open all year round (weather permitting) the Hintertux Glacier has skiing to over 3200m and is one of the steeper glacier skiing areas in the Alps. The snow conditions can be superb from Autumn through to early summer.
