FLACHAU SKI HOLIDAYS - HERMANN MAIER COUNTRY

The ski holiday resort of Flachau, the home resort of a certain Hermann Maier has excellent connections to Salzburg and Salzburg airport. Flachau is part of the Salzburger Sportwelt region and the larger Ski Amade region. Skiing in the Flachau / Salzburger Sportwelt area is on a grand scale. The skiing and snowboarding is best suited to intermediates whilst the resort of Flachau and its après ski are both impressive. The next village along the valley is the home to Atomic skis – this is a true ski region.

FLACHAU SKI HOLIDAYS – RESORTS, LIFTS AND LOCATION

Flachau is located directly south of Salzburg airport and has superb connections by autobahn. The ski holiday resort is part of a cluster of ski resorts that make up the Salzburger Sportwelt and skiing here is on a grand scale. Flachau is lift linked into neighbouring resorts such as Wagrain and further St Johann. In the opposite direction is Zauchensee is also part of the shared ski pass. The skiing in Flachau is excellent for intermediates and there are extensive resources for learners at the resort level in Flachau as well as on the mountain. The picture and name of Hermann Maier are plastered across the resort and mountain and he is head of a ski / race school in Flachau. The skiing in Flachau is tree lined, a great feature in times of bad weather. Steep black ski pistes are rare in the Flachau ski area although there are a number of ski pistes that regularly host ski race training courses that are a decent way to get some speed skiing in. The run over into Wagrain and on into St Johann and Alpendorf takes in some great terrain is a great run out for intermediate skiers and snowboarders.
