FLACHAU SKIING AND SNOWBOARDING

Flachau skiing is an integral part of the Salzburg Sportwelt ski region as well as central in the biggest ski area in Austria, the Ski Amade region. For intermediate skiers and snowboarders the Flachau offers superb and extensive skiing and snowboarding with the local areas of Zauchensee, Wagrain, Kleinarl and St Johann / Alpendorf all easily reached. The Flachau ski area is also the home ski hill of ski race legend Hermann Maier and pretty much everything on the slopes is named after its most famous ski son.

FLACHAU SKIING - GREAT INTERMEDIATE SKIING

Flachau skiing, famed for being the home ski hill of Hermann Maier (although he was born in the neighbouring town of Altenmarkt) offers superb intermediate skiing in the Salzburg Sportwelt ski region just south of Salzburg. Ski lifts leave from various parts of Flachau and the tree-lined skiing stretches in various directions. From Flachau the skiing heads out toward Wagrain, Kleinarl, St Johann / Alpendorf, Flachauwinkl and Zauchensee. Flachau is a popular ski area with locals and Salzburgers and the ski facilities are highly impressive. As well as extensive (the run over to Alpendorf and back is memorable) the ski terrain is attractive and interesting. Flachau is central in the vast Ski Amade ski region and for those wanting further, mainly intermediate terrain then Schladming is located just down the valley with Bad Gastein located in the opposite direction. Better skiers and snowboarders have more limited terrain than intermediates whilst beginners have ample beginner terrain just above Flachau as well as big terrain to advance into above Flachau and beyond.
