GARGELLEN, MONTAFON, AUSTRIA SKI HOLIDAYS

Gargellen is the highest ski holiday resort in the Montafon region. It offers a good range of ski-in, ski-out and slope side accommodation and is popular with families. Located in the far west of Austria and close to the border with Switzerland, the area is little known to the English speaking ski market. There is a strong Swiss influence in Gargellen and Montafon in general. Located close to Gargellen is the Silvretta Nova ski region, the biggest in the Montafon ski region.

GARGELLEN – HIGHEST SKI HOLIDAY RESORT IN MONTAFON

Gargellen is probably the most attractive of the Montafon ski holiday resorts. It is the highest ski holiday resort in the Montafon ski region and is smaller than many of the other Montafon ski holiday resorts. Gargellen has a definite style and charm. The skiing in Gargellen is ideal for intermediate skiers and snowboarders whilst there are some excellent powder bowls that are accessed by the ski pistes that traverse across the mountains. The run from the top station down to Gargellen is particularly enjoyable as it winds through changing terrain and then passes huts and eventually accommodation. There is a large childrens ski area in the resort centre as well as another just above the church for beginners. For intermediate skiers and snowboarders staying in Gargellen, just back down the valley is the impressive and extensive Silvretta Nova ski area, the biggest in Montafon and large enough to keep most intermediates occupied for some days. The Silvretta Nova is covered on the same Montafon ski pass that includes Gargellen, Hochjoch and Golm ski areas.
