GOSAU IN THE VARIED DACHSTEIN WEST SKI REGION
The skiing in Gosau is ideal for families, beginners and intermediates wanting extensive ski terrain. There is a childrens ski area located on the edge of Gosau and the tree lined skiing in the Gosau ski area is pretty gentle. The valley that Gosau occupies is charming and scenic with a glacier at one end and a pretty river running the length of the valley. For intermediates then the ski area above Gosau is ideal for covering some good distances, the ski area has little tough terrain but plenty of easy cruisers. The ski areas above Russbach and Annaberg, both ski holiday resorts in the Dachstein West ski region offer further areas to explore with similar terrain to Gosau. Intermediate skiers and snowboarders can also head to the Krippenstein Freeride Arena, a ski area in the Dachstein West that has a 10km ski piste. Those heading to the Krippenstein Freeride Arena though are doing so for one thing usually – the extreme off-piste on offer at the Krippenstein Freeride Arena. The off-piste at the Krippenstein Freeride Arena is some of the very best in the Alps.
