HOCHFUGEN – HOCHZILLERTAL, ZILLERTAL SKI REGION
Hochfugen is part of the combined Hochfugen-Hochzillertal ski region and for those skiing in Hochfugen there is little visible evidence of a change in location. Hochzillertal has slightly the bigger ski area but both sides of the ski area offer plenty of intermediate skiing and snowboarding. On the northern edge the Hochfugen ski area there is a large beginners ski area with several lifts and gentle skiing. Beyond that in both the Hochfugen and Hochzillertal the skiing is ideal for beginners through to intermediates, whilst for better skiers and snowboarders the Hochzillertal ski area offers a fair range of black pistes including the Stefan Eberharter downhill piste. The key difference for those staying in Hochfugen is the height and access to and from the slopes with ski-in, ski-out and slope side accommodation on offer in Hochfugen. There are however very few resort facilities actually located up at Hochfugen for more life and facilities then both Kaltenbach and Fugen down in the Zillertal Valley offer far more options.
