Hochgurgl is the highest ski holiday resort in Austria and the second highest in the Alps. Located at a whopping 2150m and with skiing reaching over 3000m, Hochgurgl is about as snow sure as you can get. The ski holiday resort of Hochgurgl is totally ski-in, ski-out and has some high end hotels that offer luxury as well as immediate access to the skiing in Hochgurgl. Obergurgl is just below in the Otztal Valley and together Hochgurgl and Obergurgl offer dramatic scenery, a snow guarantee and some excellent skiing.

Located at the very end of the Otztal Valley, Hochgurgl is the high altitude ski holiday resort that accesses a great ski area that is ideal for intermediate skiers and snowboarders and has one of the best snow reliabilities in the Alps. Hochgurgl accesses the Wurmkogel side of the ski area whilst Obergurgl links into the Festkogel ski area. Both the Obergurgl and Hochgurgl ski areas are linked to each other by the Top Express Gurgl ski lift that essentially travels horizontally and over 2 vast valleys that separate the areas. The combined ski area offers high altitude ski pistes that often enjoy superb snow and have a glacier skiing feel to them, with wide lumbering pistes between craggy peaks. The skiing in Hochgurgl is ideal for beginners and intermediate and for better skiers and snowboarders there is some great off-piste as well as some tough ski routes to attempt. The new mountain restaurant at the top of the Wurmkogel is an incredible structure, with precipitous drops beneath the meshed steel circular balcony and often with wonderful blown snow formations clinging to it.
