HOCHOETZ, AUSTRIA SKIING HOLIDAYS

Hochoetz is the first ski area on entering the mighty Otztal valley and is located above the regional town of Oetz. Hochoetz can also be accessed from the Sellrain side and the ski holiday resort of Kuhtai. Hochoetz is popular with locals and families and offers good beginner and lower intermediate skiing as well as wonderful views down to the towering peaks of the Otztal valley. Further down the valley from Hochoetz are the big name resorts of Solden and Obergurgl.

HOCHOETZ SKIING FOR FAMILIES AND LOCALS

Hochoetz shares a ski pass with the ski holiday resorts of Solden and Kuhtai, with Kuhtai having a short ski bus ride linking the 2 areas. Solden with the twin Rettenbach and Tiefenbach glaciers and Kuhtai resort located over 2000m together offer a great snow guarantee for those visiting Hochoetz. The skiing in Hochoetz is popular with and good for beginners, lower intermediates and families. Better intermediates looking for more terrain should take advantage of the other ski areas on the Hochoetz ski pass. People visiting Hochoetz can stay in Oetz or Ochsengarten, both resorts having lifts linking into the heart of the Hochoetz ski area. Oetz has a good authentic feel to it being a regional town, whilst Ochsengarten has a more remote, higher and more alpine feel to it. There is a large kids ski playground / learning area at the top station of the gondolas as well as the ski schools and restaurants. Much of the skiing in Hochoetz is within the tree line and the views down the Innsbruck and Otztal valleys can be dramatic.
