IGLS, INNSBRUCK, AUSTRIA – FAMILY SKI HOLIDAYS
To Austrians, Igls represents the scene of their greatest winter sports triumph, when Franz Klammer won Olympic gold on the Patscherkofel mountain above Igls. The domed mountain that sits high above Innsbruck forms part of the impressive Innsbruck ski region. The ski holiday resort of Igls is pretty, traditional and has great access to Innsbruck, down in the valley. The skiing on the Patscherkofel is great for beginners and lower intermediates whilst the Innsbruck ski region has huge ski and snowboard opportunities.

IGLS / PATSCHERKOFEL – PART OF THE INNSBRUCK SKI
Igls has a beginners ski area at the base station of the Patscherkofel cable car whilst there is also a small learning area at the top station. The tree-lined skiing on the Patscherkofel is ideal for beginners and intermediates whilst the section of the Patscherkofel that is above the tree-line also offers the steepest skiing with a few sections of tough skiing both on and off-piste. The ski pistes run all the way back down to Igls, a village full of tradition and charm which has great access to Innsbruck and all its facilities in the valley beneath Igls. Igls is part of the Innsbruck ski region: Innsbruck-Nordpark offers seriously steep off-piste skiing, Axamer Lizum is the highest ski resort in the Innsbruck ski region and has ski-in, ski-out accommodation, Mutters and Schlick 2000 are great for families whilst the Stubai Glacier south of Igls and Innsbruck offers a great intermediate ski area as well as a superb snow reliability. One ski pass is available to cover Igls and the Innsbruck ski region and ski buses connect the areas. Igls has pretty restrained après ski but for night life, Innsbruck down in the valley offers a great deal.
