THE BEST INTERMEDIATE SKIING IN AUSTRIA
Intermediate skiers and snowboarders often require a number of things from a ski area, including more extensive terrain, good lift systems so that they can get around and some challenging ski terrain to edge into. Intermediate terrain is the most abundant ski terrain in ski areas but we have selected the following ski holiday resorts for their particularly good intermediate skiing and snowboarding. It is fair to say though that nearly every ski holiday resort in Austria will offer intermediate skiing.
GREAT VALUE SKI HOLIDAYS
LECH AM ARLBERG
Great intermediate skiing coupled with some of the best snow in the Alps make Lech am Arlberg an outstanding intermediate ski destination. Lech shares a ski pass with Zurs and the Arlberg.
ZURS AM ARLBERG
Zurs am Arlberg is part of the Lech-Zurs ski area and the Arlberg ski region. Zurs offers some of the best intermediate skiing in the Alps along with an almost unbeatable snow record.
Flachau is part of the excellent Salzburger Sportwelt ski region and offers great linked skiing ideally suited to intermediate skiers. Flachau is also part of the huge Ski Amade region.
Gerlos is located at the heart of the Zillertal Arena ski region and it is possible to ski great distances in both direction. Gerlos offers some of the best intermediate skiing in the region.
Zauchensee is the highest ski holiday resort in the area and is part of the great intermediate ski area of Salzburger Sportwelt, located to the south of Salzburg.
ST CHRISTOPH AM ARLBERG
St Christoph has immediate access to the St Anton ski area offering some excellent intermediate skiing. St Christoph also shares a ski pass with the sensational Lech-Zurs ski area.
Hinterglemm is part of the Saalbach-Hinterglemm and offers the tougher skiing in this superb intermediate ski region. The Saalbach-Hinterglemm ski area is one of the biggest in the region.
The combined ski area of Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis offers some of the best intermediate skiing in the region with skiing over 2700m and some superb ski safaris on offer.
Famous for its Hahnenkamm downhill ski race, Kitzbuhel is in fact best suited to intermediate skiers and snowboarders. Kitzbuhel is located in the centre of a huge ski region.
Serfaus has skiing to over 2700m and is part of the superb intermediate ski region of Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis. Serfaus offers the intermediate skiers great distances to cover.
Westendorf is ideally located between the Ski Welt resort and the Kitzbuhel ski region. The intermediate skiing in Westendorf is extensive and impressive in all directions.
Saalbach is part of one of the biggest ski regions in the area south of Salzburg and together with Hinterglemm offers superb intermediate skiing and snowboarding in a pretty valley.
