NIEDERAU-OBERAU, AUSTRIA BEGINNER SKI HOLIDAYS

The twin ski holiday resorts of Niederau & Oberau are part of the Wildschonau valley, offering some of the most popular beginner ski terrain in the region. The Wildschonau Valley is pretty, tranquil and one of the most popular first timer destinations in the Alps. The skiing is ideal for beginners with gentle, forgiving tree lined ski pistes. Better skiers and snowboarders will need to head down the valley to the Wildschonau ski area of Auffach for more intermediate terrain.

NIEDERAU-OBERAU - IN THE KITZBUHELER ALPEN SKI AREA

Directly above Niederau there is a large learners ski area that is located between the edge of the resort and the lower slopes of the ski area. Above this the tree lined beginner ski pistes of Niederau await progressing beginners. There are a number of black ski pistes in the Niederau ski area although these are not overly steep or challenging for intermediate skiers and snowboarders. The ski area above the neighbouring ski holiday resort of Oberau is small and almost exclusively caters for the beginner skier or snowboarder. Auffach is the third ski area of note in the Wildschonau Valley and accesses a ski area at the Schatzberg ski area above Auffach, offering the highest and probably best intermediate skiing in the Wildschonau Valley. Further afield the ski opportunities are excellent since Niederau-Oberau is part of the Kitzbuheler Alpen ski region that includes the nearby Ski Welt ski holiday resorts, Kitzbuhel as well as numerous other ski areas. These ski areas are included on one shared ski pass.
