OBERGURGL SKI HOLIDAYS – HIGH RESORT & HIGH SKIING

Obergurgl is an upmarket ski holiday resort that very much has height on its side. The ski holiday resort itself is located just under 2000m whilst the ski area reaches over 3000m. In terms of snow / weather then Obergurgl is rated as one of the most snow sure resorts in Austria. The skiing stretches across 2 separate peaks, whilst the views of the local glaciers are superb. The resort has a number of large hotels that offer a wide range of facilities. Obergurgl is part of the superb Otztal ski region that includes Solden and its glaciers.

OBERGURGL SKIING – SNOW SURE & IDEAL FOR INTERMEDIATES

With the skiing in Obergurgl reaching over 3000m the Obergurgl ski area is one of the most snow sure ski areas in Austria. When the weather is kind and the skies are blue, the skiing and snowboarding in Obergurgl can be superb for intermediates, with wide gentle ski pistes which regularly offer outstanding snow. The skiing in Obergurgl reaches over 2 mountains which are linked by an almost horizontally travelling gondola that spans an enormous valley. For those wanting total ski-in, ski-out luxury then Hochgurgl is located at a fantastic 2150m making it the second highest ski holiday resort in the Alps. Obergurgl itself has pretty decent access to the skiing from much of the resort whilst there are cross-country skiing trails that runs past Obergurgl and down the valley. For better skiers and snowboarders there are a number of ski routes that can be genuinely challenging even in good weather / conditions. Off-piste is another draw in the Obergurgl ski area for better skiers and snowboarders, the height of the Obergurgl often ensures really great snow quality.
