Good top height, ski-in / ski-out hotels & part of Silvretta ski region.

Snowflake

With great access from Innsbruck, at the northern end of the Paznaun valley, Kappl offers skiing to over 2600m and benefits from its proximity to St Anton with a good snow record. Located just over the mountain, the St Anton (Rendl) ski area has long been touted as the next big lift connection in the region.

Kappl offers a great vertical in its ski area whilst the top height ensures that there is good snow consistency and reliability on its south-facing slopes. The ski area isn’t on the scale of the neighbouring Ischgl, but there is some great terrain as well as off-piste options in and around the Kappl area.

KAPPL SKIING

Kappl has an impressive top lift height and some really enjoyable intermediate skiing. Tougher skiing is on offer in the off-piste and the Kappl ski routes. The majority of the upper slopes are red pistes and all are above the ski line. The Kappl slopes are south-facing but the snow holds up well, with a top lift height of 2640m. Around mid-mountain there is a restaurant, the DIAS gondola top lift station and the lifts serving the upper section of the ski area.

The lower skiing takes place around the tree line with wide slopes, mostly suited to intermediates. The talabfahrt or valley piste winds down the mountain from the mid-station, offering great views to the south as it cuts through the trees. The lower section of this ski piste to Kappl runs past a good deal of the resort accommodation making many hotels in Kappl ski-in, ski-out, before it ends in the valley at the DIAS gondola base station.

Ski region

The Silvretta ski region cover the whole of the Paznaun valley and offers an epic variety of ski options.

KAPPL RESORT

Kappl is located above the main valley floor on a sloping mountainside. The main Kappl gondola leaves from the valley base station and much of the resort is located above this point. The ski piste that runs past a portion of Kappl accommodation ensures that part of Kappl is ski-in, ski-out.

The resort spreads out across the mountainside and much of the resort is built on a slope allowing great views either north or south down the valley. There are a number of hotels and apartments whilst the central area has shops, bank and restaurants, all located above the valley floor.
