OBERLECH SKIING
The Lech-Zürs ski area is part of the Arlberg ski region, widely regarded as the best in Austria, possibly the Alps. Oberlech skiing is ideal for intermediates, whilst there is also a beginner’s ski area in the centre of Oberlech. The skiing and snow record in Oberlech and the Lech-Zurs ski area are superb. Lech / Oberlech lay directly between the 1st and 2nd highest snow fall locations in the Alps, the resorts of Warth and Zürs. The snow fall in this region is remarkable and unmatched in the Alps. The Lech-Zürs ski area is ideal for intermediate skiers and snowboarders and the ‘White Ring’ ski circuit is a superb route that takes in the best of Lech, Zurs and Zug.
Beyond the Lech-Zürs ski area, the ski areas of St Anton, St Christoph, Stuben and Warth are included on the Arlberg ski pass. St Anton offers superb step skiing, some of the best in the Alps, whilst Stuben am Arlberg is regarded as the best off-piste powder skiing area in Austria, maybe the Alps. For the better skiers and snowboarders, heli-skiing operates out of Lech-Zürs and there is a pickup point on the slopes to the west of Oberlech.
