SÖLL SKIING

The Ski Welt ski region represents an intermediate skiers’ dream - endless km’s of red and blue ski pistes that can allow the skier or snowboarder to ski big distances out of the Söll ski area. The Ski Welt covers big names resorts such as Westendorf, Ellmau and Brixen and the terrain in all these areas very much favours the intermediate skier / snowboarder. Söll is located toward the centre of the Ski Welt ski region and its ski area is situated on and beneath the Hohe Salve peak, the conical mountain top that can be seen from almost all the Ski Welt ski region.

Directly beneath the Hohe Salve the skiing is steep with some genuinely steep blacks and some more gentle reds that offer escape routes. This is also the location of some of the best off-piste skiing due to the gradient and height of the area. For beginners then there is a large beginners ski area located in the valley on the edge of Söll whilst there is also some beginner terrain at Hochsöll. For progressing beginner skiers there is plenty of terrain to tackle.

SÖLL RESORT

As is common of the Austrian mountain villages, the centre of Söll is found around the church. From here the ski holiday resort of Söll spreads widely across the valley making Söll a large and spacious ski resort, one of the larger ski resorts in the Ski Welt ski region. Söll is low-rise and traditional and much of the village is given over to tourism. The main road that runs through the valley and connects the ski holiday resorts of the Ski Welt by-passes Söll so the traffic within Söll is almost all local traffic. There is an attractive central street through Söll that hosts the Christmas markets prior to Christmas and is the focal point of most of the activity in Söll.

Après ski and nightlife are popular in Söll and are concentrated in the central area of Söll. Away from the main centre of Söll, the resort is very relaxed and peaceful. Söll is popular year-round and whilst tourism is a big part of life in Söll the village / resort has a permanence about it in terms of the facilities and those who live there year-round. The skiing in Söll takes place on the opposite side of the valley road and a ski piste runs right back to the centre of Söll.
