Solden skiing is high, varied, extensive and extremely impressive. The Solden ski area includes 2 glaciers for glacier skiing up to 3250m as well as a varied and impressive ski area between the glaciers and the resort of Solden. The vertical of almost 2km is one of the biggest in the Alps and the run from the top of the Rettenbach down to Solden is a superb run with varied terrain and gradients. SOLDEN SKIING – LARGE SKI AREA, GREAT ON & OFF-PISTE
The Solden ski area is statistically large but seems even bigger than comparably sized ski areas. Maybe the variety of the area with tight tracks, wide open pistes and then even wider glacier ski pistes creates this feeling. The skiing in Solden is spread over two mountains that are separated by the Rettenbach valley and then additionally there are 2 glacier skiing areas beyond this. All skiing is lift linked and the ski area features circuits to take in the best of the skiing and snowboarding in Solden. Lower down there are wooded ski pistes above Solden whilst the ski-in, ski-out resort of Hochsolden is above the tree-line. The ski area around the Giggijoch mid-station is well equipped, features several high capacity ski lifts and is a ski area that offers wide and pretty gentle ski pistes, ideal for beginners and early intermediates. This is also the route for accessing the twin glacier skiing areas. The ski pistes around Hochsolden offer some of the steeper skiing and snowboarding in Solden whilst intermediates will find endless intermediate ski pistes throughout the Solden ski area.
