ST ANTON BEGINNER SKIING
St Anton am Arlberg is unquestionably one of the top ski areas in the entire Alps. It is the birth place of modern skiing and for those learning their stuff in St Anton then the there is a good deal of credence to say that it all began in St Anton. St Anton though gets very steep, very quickly out of the resort and beginner skiers and snowboarders need to choose carefully to avoid some sticky situations, the routes back to the resort are particularly unforgiving although with some planning they can be avoided.
TRY & AVOID - BEGINNERS
TRY - The runs to St Christoph from the Galzigbahn station AVOID - Zammermoos or the Osthang back to St Anton

BEGINNER SKIING - A GUIDE TO THE ST ANTON SKI AREA
The section of the ski area between the Galzigbahn and the Nassereinbahn offers the main beginners ski area in St Anton. The strip includes 5 main lifts that serve the beginners ski area, beyond this the mountain rises steeply to Gampen and Kappall. This is the region where most beginner skiers and boarders begin in St Anton. Beyond that then the blue ski pistes of S1a Mittelstation - Stuben, S1 Mittelstation - Alpe Rauz, 17 Valfagehr, 12 Ulmerhütte, 12a Innere Schweinströge, 11 Arlenmähder, 8 St. Christoph, 8a Maiensee, 9 Schwarze Wand, 4 Steissbachtal, 5 Osthang Einfahrt, 20 Stock, 1 Zammermoos - St. Anton, 36 Fasch, 23 Plattiwald, 24 Stallmähder - Fang, R13 Wasserloch and R4 Salzböden await. The routes back to the resort of St Anton can be anything from tough to perilous for beginners and those who are good enough to ski in the main St Anton area would be well advised to download on the Galzigbahn at the end of skiing / boarding to avoid the narrow, busy and chopped-up ski runs. Locating around the Galzig area gives access to the St Christoph pistes that are some of the best for beginners in the St Anton area and are ideal to progress on.
