STUBEN SKI RESORT – HISTORIC, CHARMING & DEEP IN SNOW

Stuben has a big wow factor. The historic main street and the roofs that are often metres deep in snow give Stuben a dramatic look and atmosphere. The walking paths that cut through the massive snow pack between the centre of Stuben and the church and ski lift are wonderful retreats, whilst the quality of Stuben is obvious – the hotels there are old, traditional and steeped in character. Stuben is compact and exudes style and charm – it feels like a true alpine retreat.

STUBEN SKI RESORT – GENUINE SKI VILLAGE

The ski resort of Stuben has quality and charm in abundance but its role as the launch pad to one of the greatest off-piste ski areas in the Alps is fairly understated. The ski lift that reaches toward the Albona from Stuben is tucked away behind the church. The ski piste that runs back into Stuben is similarly just out of view from much of the resort. Yet the avalanche transceiver tester that adorns the main street of Stuben is a give away to the fact that Stuben is very much a ski village. The discreet adverts for heli-skiing and off-piste guiding are further signs of the pedigree of Stuben. For the visitor then Stuben has most of its amenities located within the accommodation, Stuben does not have the resort amenities of St Anton or Lech am Arlberg but that is the real charm of the place. Stuben is absolutely top quality and there are a number of excellent hotels with impressive facilities. For resorts in the locality that offer more facilities, Lech am Arlberg and St Anton am Arlberg are the best options. But for charm and atmosphere, Stuben am Arlberg is tough to beat.
