ZAUCHENSEE SKIING – SKI-IN, SKI-OUT SKING ON ALL SIDES

Zauchensee is located in a natural bowl and there is skiing on all sides and with 8 ski lifts leaving the resort, the skier or snowboarder has a great deal of options directly from the resort. Additionally almost all the resort of Zauchensee is ski-in, ski-out making for a really convenient start or finish to the day. There is a kids / beginners ski area located in the centre of the resort and the ski pistes in Zauchensee all converge on the resort centre, passing much of the slope side hotel accommodation.

ZAUCHENSEE SKIING – EXTENSIVE INTERMEDIATE SKIING

The skiing directly around Zauchensee is a mixture of red and blue pistes with a few token blacks thrown in. The black ski pistes are not too tough and the skiing is generally suited toward the intermediate in Zauchensee with some moderate gradient pistes running back into the resort. Beginners have a couple of long blue pistes to advance into whilst for the intermediate skier or snowboarders, Zauchensee is superb. Zauchensee skiing is part of the Salzburger Sportwelt ski region that is located to the south of Salzburg and takes in renowned ski areas such as Flachau, Wagrain and of course Zauchensee. The Salzburger Sportwelt is in turn part of the vast Ski Amade ski region – skiing in this part of Austria is on a huge scale and for those staying in Zauchensee there are some great ski safaris to be had. From the Roßkopf ski lift in Zauchensee the ski piste runs over toward Flachauwinkl from where the Salzburger Sportwelt opens up into the Wagrain, St Johann and also Flachau ski areas. The terrain is interesting, extensive and ideal for intermediates.
