Located at over 2020m, Kühtai is one of Austria's highest and most snow-sure ski resorts. It is located on a high pass between the Innsbruck valley and the Ötztal valley. Within easy reach from (and to) Innsbruck, Kühtai is part of the Innsbruck Olympic ski region.
Most accommodation in Kühtai is ski-in / ski-out, with the resort stretching along the valley on each side of the road. Lifts and ski pistes are located on either side of the valley. The setting of Kühtai is dramatic on the 2000m plus pass with wild, treeless mountains.
Skiing in Kühtai takes place on both sides of the valley. The northern side is the steeper, less sunny side of the ski area, while the southern side has more gentle skiing, higher up, and sunny slopes throughout the winter. The northern side of the ski area has a big and popular snow park, while the southern side has night skiing mid-week and on Saturdays.
Kühtai shares a ski pass with Hochötz, the Ötztal ski area just down the valley. The ski areas are linked by a short bus transfer, and the Hochötz ski area offers a good addition to the Kühtai ski area. There is a good range of skiing in and around the treeline which helps during inclement weather. Ski touring is very popular around Kühtai, with some fantastic, high-altitude back-country.

Kühtai is one of the highest ski resorts in the Alps, located at over 2000m, on a high-altitude pass between the Innsbruck and Ötztal valleys. The resort is essentially one property deep for the length of the village and there is excellent slope-side and ski-in / ski-out accommodation access throughout the resort. Sports shops make up the majority of retail options in Kühtai but further down the Sellrain valley, there are many more shops available.
Much of the entertainment and amenities on offer in Kühtai are located within the hotels – there are very few public leisure facilities in the resort. The hotel bars and restaurants are open to the public, and it is easy to walk between the accommodation. Buses run to Innsbruck and a whole range of activities and amenities are on offer in this regional capital.
There are a number of apres ski bars in the slopeside hotels, and umbrella bars at resort level in Kühtai. The resort is no St Anton for apres ski but there are plenty of bars stools to occupy through the resort.
Innsbruck offers an alternative apres ski option to Kühtai especially for those staying in the city and transferring to the skiing. Innsbruck doesn't have the ski boots on tables and ski of a traditional resort, but it has incredible nightlife - a fusion of urban and alpine themes.
There are huts in Kühtai where small meetings and seminars are possible. Another option would be using the meeting facilities of one of the slopeside hotels in Kühtai, with break-outs overlooking the ski area and snowy peaks.
Innsbruck offers a wide range of stunning meeting facilities, from professional congress centres to intimate design wonders. Modern and historic, mountain or valley, Innsbruck has so many fantastic meeting venue options.
