FLOAT IN THERMAL WATER AMONGST THE SNOWY PEAKS.

Alpine spas are often located in dramatic surroundings with glass walls and open-air pools & terraces offering sensational immersion into the landscape. They are spaces and facilities that are designed to take guests out of their hectic daily lives, into different worlds of sensory calm and pampered comfort.

Locations for Alpine spas are critical and many command wonderful positions, affording them remarkable and inspiring views over their jagged landscapes. Glass walls help the drama of the scenery penetrate the interior of the spas, whilst the many outdoor pools and terraces offer this scenery, along with pure, alpine air.

ALPINE SPA BASICS

The spas can be public complexes or private hotel spas. The quality of the best public spas matches those of the best hotel spas, with immaculate facilities located within architecturally stunning spaces. As well as swimming and relaxation pools, spas offer a range of treatments from massages to beauty treatments. Whichever way time in a spa is spent, the sense of rejuvenation is immense.

Spas can usually be accessed from early morning until late at night. The spas are a superb non-skier activity, offering the clients time amongst the mountains, whilst the long opening hours can allow skiers to combine time in the spa with time on the snow. Some hotel spas are located directly adjacent to the ski pistes, allowing clients to plunge into bubbling hot water amongst the snow.

ALPINE SPA LOCATIONS

Just south of Sölden is the Aquadome Spa, an ultra-modern complex of glass and giant aquatic bowls with steaming thermal water. Located in the narrow Ötztal valley, the complex is dominated by towering mountains, with the outdoor pools offering dramatic views of the landscape. Outdoor saline float-pools feature underwater speakers, emitting rhythmical, relaxing sounds.

Kaprun hosts one of the most contemporary and dramatic spa complexes in the Alps. The Tauern spa sits on the valley floor between the Zell am See and Kitzsteinhorn Glacier ski areas and contrasts wonderfully with the historic castle in Kaprun. The complex offers superb modern facilities with truly dramatic vistas over the local glaciers and Austria’s highest mountain.
