Friday in Sölden delivered blue skies, a (still) huge snow pack and big crowds to the free, open air DJ extravaganza at the Giggijoch mountain lift station. With its twin Rettenbach and Tiefenbach glaciers offering an absolute snow guarantee, Sölden can plan in these late season events. So, guests were treated to some fantastic spring skiing (although high on the glaciers the snow quality felt no different to February), whilst it appeared others took advantage of the deck chairs and bar service for the majority of the day. The Giggijoch gondola ran until 19:30 and the outdoor venue was pumping as Oliver Heldens rounded things off with a sample of Dizzy Rascal's Bonkers.
The after parties in Sölden were serious, with Fire & Ice, Kuckuck and the Schirm bar all heaving through the evening and masses of revellers moving from bar to bar. The queues this morning for the early gondolas were distinctly smaller than yesterday - Sölden has the power to do this!
The Electric Mountain Festival is an annual spectacle that culminates in April. The concert is free to attend for valid ski pass holders but there are also VIP tickets available for restricted access areas and other trappings. Combining the festival with one of the best spring skiing options in the Alps - the Electric Mountain Festival is a must visit corporate ski trip event.
