I was up in Kuhtai with my family today for a winter walk and toboggan – in between squeezing in some serious mountain food and watching my 20 month old son test out the soles on his new snow boots in the heights of Kuhtai. He hasn’t quite grasped the sense of balance required on snow and ice but seemed to enjoy it all the same. The snow in Kuhtai was far better than I expected (same for Obergurgl last week) given the last real heavy snow fall was in the run up to New Year. Tomorrow things will be a whole lot different – I am skiing with a corporate group in Ischgl – a ski holiday resort I know all too well both on and off the slopes! In short it is epic in both formats and I expect some hard days and nights in the coming week. I will keep you posted on how things progress. Any check in to rehab will have to be delayed until after the weekend though – I get back to Innsbruck on Thursday and am at the Kitzbuhel Hahnenkamm on Friday and Saturday. Ischgl might serve up apres ski as good as it gets in the Alps but nowhere throws a party quite like Kitzbuhel on the Kitzbuhel Hahnenkamm race weekend.
