The glacier regions in Austria have been transformed in the last week with big swathes of the glacier skiing areas opening and deep powder on offer around 2300m upwards. The Stubai Glacier is reporting 80cm of snow, where around a week ago there was a dusting. The Pitztal Glacier has 57cm of snow, whilst the year-round ski area at the Hintertux Glacier has 110cm of snow and more than half of its lifts and ski pistes open. The Kaunertal Glacier has 50cm, the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier 70cm and the Mölltaler Glacier 100cm.

Leading the way however is the Sölden which is boasting a whopping 192cm on the Rettenbach and Tiefenbach glaciers. During the week, the resort of Sölden was thick in snow, right down to 1300m. The resort pistes are yet to open but with cool temperatures and more snow forecast for next week, the Sölden ski area should be in great shape for the opening on its non-glacier ski area.
