Close to Italian border and wrapped by towering glacial peaks, Obergurgl is as snow sure as they come, whilst its ski-in / ski-out satellite village of Hochgurgl is the 2nd highest in the Alps. The skiing is famed for its staggering views and empty slopes.

With the skiing in Obergurgl reaching over 3000m, the ski area is one of the most snow sure ski areas in Austria. When the weather is kind and the skies are blue, the skiing and snowboarding in Obergurgl can be otherwordly for intermediates, with wide gentle ski pistes that are regularly banked in fresh snow.

The skiing in Obergurgl reaches over 2 mountains which are linked by an almost horizontally travelling gondola that spans an enormous valley. Hochgurgl offers a range of team lunch options and these can be easily joined by any non-skiers attending the corporate ski event.

For better skiers and snowboarders there are several ski routes that can be genuinely challenging even in good weather / conditions. Off-piste is another draw in the Obergurgl ski area for better skiers and snowboarders, the height of the Obergurgl often ensures excellent snow quality.

Just north of Obergurgl is the mega-resort of Sölden offering huge terrain and high-altitude skiingon the Rettenbach and Tiefenbach glaciers. The ski area is easily reached from Obergurgl and adds further ski options to this fantastic part of the Ötztal valley.

At the southern end of the Ötztal valley, close to the Italian border, Obergurgl enjoys staggering views, surrounded by the biggest peaks in Tirol. Deep in snow, with a horizon of serious eye-candy and with cross-country skiing trails running past the resort, Obergurgl epitomizes the winter wonderland.

Obergurgl is compact and its large hotels all enjoy good or immediate access to the slopes and ski lifts. The newly opened Gurgl Carat conference centre is bang in the middle of the village – ideally located for corporate ski events requiring a professional meeting venue.

For corporate ski event planners wanting total ski-in, ski-out luxury then Hochgurgl is located at a whopping 2150m, making it the second highest ski holiday resort in the Alps. There are slope-side, spa hotels in Hochgurgl with swimming pools lapping against the snow. Hochgurgl is connected to Obergurgl by ski lift, ski piste and road.

Heading north of Obergurgl is the ski resort goliath of Sölden, offering a wide range of shopping and entertainment. Further north in the Ötztal valley the fantastic Aqua Dome thermal spa can be found – one of the very best spas in the Alps.


Outwardly, a sleepy high-altitude ski village paradise at the southern reaches of the Ötztal valley, Obergurgl in fact offers some afternoon surprises in the shape of serious après ski. The Nederhütte is an absolute après ski institution.

Located a couple of hundred of metres above Obergurgl, the resident band, the Nederlumpen crank up the atmosphere during mid-week sessions and the masses in attendance lose themselves. The Nederhütte - not to be missed!

Whilst the Nederhütte offers fantastic Austrian après ski, little in the observable universe can compete with Sölden for après ski. By a twist of fate, Sölden is located just a few minutes north of Obergurgl and offers après ski from the dark side.

Opened in 2020, the Gurgl Carat conference centre offer stunning modular spaces in the highest conference centre in Europe. Located in the heart of the village, the Gurgl Carat has a cutting-edge exterior and an interior media wall that is something to behold.

The overhanging entrance area can be customised as an outdoor event space, whilst the proximity to the local hotels make it an absolute breeze to get to and from.

Many of the larger hotels in Obergurgl and Hochgurgl have dedicated meeting rooms for meeting & seminar events. There are mountain huts which can provide meeting venue spaces or alternatively, host break-out sessions from the Gurgl Carat.
