The Oberlech cable runs until the early hours for those wanting to experience Lech by night and yet retreat to the magical nature of Oberlech and its ski-in, ski-out location. The Lech-Zürs ski area is part of the Arlberg ski region, widely regarded as the best in Austria, possibly the Alps. Oberlech skiing is ideal for intermediates, whilst there is also a beginner’s ski area in the centre of Oberlech. The skiing and snow record in Oberlech and the Lech-Zurs ski area are superb. Lech / Oberlech lay directly between the 1st and 2nd highest snow fall locations in the Alps, the resorts of Warth and Zürs. The snow fall in this region is remarkable and unmatched in the Alps. The Lech-Zürs ski area is ideal for intermediate skiers and snowboarders and the ‘White Ring’ ski circuit is a superb route that takes in the best of Lech, Zurs and Zug.
Beyond the Lech-Zürs ski area, the ski areas of St Anton, St Christoph, Stuben and Warth are included on the Arlberg ski pass. St Anton offers superb step skiing, some of the best in the Alps, whilst Stuben am Arlberg is regarded as the best off-piste powder skiing area in Austria, maybe the Alps. For the better skiers and snowboarders, heli-skiing operates out of Lech-Zürs and there is a pickup point on the slopes to the west of Oberlech.
Heli-skiing is the ultimate snow-sport and Oberlech / Lech-Zürs are the only Austrian destinations where heli-ski operations exist.
Get dressed up for dinner in one of the excellent Oberlech or Lech resort gastronomic venues.
Ride the world famous White Ring ski circuit from Oberlech into Lech, Zug and Zürs am Arlberg.
The resort of Oberlech is truly magical. The views along the valley are sensational but that could be said of many locations in the Alps. Rather, it is the combination of quality and location that make Oberlech so special. Lech am Arlberg, one of the most wonderful ski resorts in the world is located in the valley below and the car-free, ski-in, ski-out resort of Oberlech has immediate access to this incredible resort via the Oberlech cable car which runs until the early hours.
Lech am Arlberg has far more restaurants, bars and shops than Oberlech so many staying in Oberlech will visit Lech. But to retire to Oberlech, with its top-end hotels and breakfast just metres from the slopes is very special. Oberlech is totally car free in winter with underground service tunnels – the only thing that moves after dark are those wandering through the snow, between the superb hotel bars and restaurants.
